A young girl was beaten after refusing to give $30,000 to a man who had had sex with her, the District Court heard. Joey Tai Man-kay, 20, denied having sex with the girl on October 13, 1994, when she was 12, and assaulting her a year later.

He also denied being a member of the Wo Shing Wo triad society and blackmail. Judge Clare Beeson adjourned the case.
