Gratuitously insulting remark

David Chu points out in his letter to these columns of May 10 that he is not impressed by the 'important personages' I have consulted in connection with dropping the Yacht Club's 'Royal' title.

Well, I was not trying to impress him, but merely to point out that not everyone necessarily agrees with him.

To impute, as he does, that the club or myself are motivated by a desire to pander to politically correct preferences, rather than a regard for the practical difficulties of remaining 'Royal', is gratuitously insulting.
