It's been a fabulous first season for rookie trainer Ricky Yiu and he can already start looking forward to a ready-made winner next campaign in the imposing shape of Professionalkiller. By the English 2,000 Guineas winner, Shadeed, Professionalkiller was noticeably inexperienced as he came out of the gates yesterday.

But he was making his racecourse debut at night under lights and over the Valley's tricky 1,200-metre trip. To make matters worse, he was drawn in the extreme outside barrier and his apprentice rider, James Chan, couldn't claim at all in last night's griffin event. So the odds were stacked against Professionalkiller who went firmly into the notebook making good headway from second last to hit the line full of running in fourth behind the classy Mission Sealed.
