Dell's CD-Rom notebook PC
Dell Computer this week unveils a new multimedia series of notebook computers to exist alongside its Latitude XPi products.
The Latitude LM notebook will boast a built-in CD-Rom drive and a 12.1-inch screen. The new Pentium-based notebooks will compete against similar products from notebook market leader Toshiba and Texas Instruments.
Dell, which sells computers direct to the buyers via its Asia Pacific Customer Centre in Malaysia, has previously aimed its products at the business market.
The installation of a CD-Rom drive within a Dell notebook is an indication that the internal CD-Rom option has become a mainstream device for the laptop.
