Refunds for teachers who attend art courses
Art education takes on an important role as society evolves, and art teachers therefore play an important role in social progress.
The Education Department aims to boost the quality of art education by further training for professional art teachers, a review of the art curriculum, improving teaching strategies, and introducing better organisation of programmes.
The aim is to achieve a teaching approach balancing theories and practice.
Beginning this month, the Arts Centre will be running a variety of summer courses, and the Education Department is encouraging teachers to attend by offering to refund part of the cost of the courses.
From June to September, the Hong Kong Arts Centre is launching a new season of courses which cover a variety of areas.
Among them, a section titled 'Art Education' is specifically talior-made for school teachers.
The courses for which refunds are offered are: Introduction to Computerisation on School Administration Affairs; Computer Artist-Painter; Computer Graphics for Art Teachers (Elementary); Computer Graphics for Art Teachers (Intermediate); and Mono Printing.
Music teacher participants who enrol in the Music and Theatre course can apply for a 100 per cent course fee refund.
Application forms will be sent to the teacher participants by the Arts Centre. For further details, call 2582 0219 during office hours. Non-school teachers can also enrol in the courses.
