A perfect Brew as HK shine
Hong Kong became the first team to score 300 runs in the Tuanku Ja'afar Trophy yesterday as the territory avenged last year's defeat by Malaysia with a 85-run victory.
Stewart Brew, making his debut as Hong Kong captain, scored a century as the territory piled up 300 for eight in 50 overs. The Malaysians could only reply with 215 for eight.
Brew, who was dropped four times before reaching 50, was not part of last year's side but was happy to lead Hong Kong's victory charge.
'Definitely winning meant most to me. Scoring the first 300 in the tournament was a good psychological boost and I think the other sides will be wary of us.' In a junior match, Hong Kong defeated Malaysia by five wickets in a match reduced by rain to 30 overs.
