Jury clears Egan over arms count

BARRISTER Kevin Egan was acquitted yesterday of possessing a firearm and ammunition with intent to enable his former friend and colleague, Warwick Reid, to endanger life.

Mr Adrian Huggins QC asked the judge to direct the jury to find Egan not guilty after Reid, the main prosecution witness, finished his evidence in chief.

He said the Crown had decided not to proceed on this charge.

Egan is still charged with possessing a firearm without a licence and transferring his Australian passport to Reid in December 1989.
