Ringing the changes

This year's government telephone directory has been published in English and Chinese for the first time.

About 50,000 copies of the directory were printed, with 40,000 for sale and the rest for government use.

But for the first time the private numbers of senior police officers will not be in the directory.

A police spokesman said: 'Technology is advancing. Off-duty officers can still be reached through mobile phones even if they are not at home.'
