Duty to warn of health risk
I refer to Winnie Cheung's letter 'Leave church followers alone' (South China Morning Post, August 1).
I was also a viewer of the programme shown on ATV Home on July 26 and felt uncomfortable watching it as it was not well organised and presented.
I noted Ms Cheung's comments that we should tolerate different views. She should understand that the public should not be misled by half-truths about the use of hydrogen peroxide..
As far as I know, hydrogen peroxide should never be taken orally and it is only suitable for external use.
This is endorsed by the Department of Health.
Church members' persistent interruptions were in good faith, but the purpose of the TV programme was to disseminate the truth to viewers.
In a responsible society, if we know that consumption of hydrogen peroxide is bad for us, it would be irresponsible to fold our arms and do nothing, leaving these followers to take the chemical of their own free will.
