The Hong Kong Productivity Council has launched an environmental information hotline for industry.

It was set up with the assistance of the CET and provides free information in Cantonese, Putonghua and English. John Tang, senior environmental consultant with CET, said the hotline was useful for companies that did not have the resources to research the latest environmental information.

Callers can access information on: Pollution prevention and control technology.

Waste treatment and disposal.

International environmental standards and requirements.

Manufacturing process upgrades.

Environmental legislation, standards, controls and charges.

Environmental contractors and services.

Environmental training programmes and publications.

Environment-related organisations.

The hotline is 2784-3939.
