A worthy predecessor?

Police public relations supremo Eric Lockeyear finally bowed out last week after four years of having his ear bent by pesky reporters.


No doubt he is relieved to have washed his hands of Hong Kong's press corps after years of frustration on both sides.


Crime-beat reporters lament that prising information from Chief Superintendent Lockeyear's department was often akin to extracting blood from a stone.


Is it just coincidence then that Lockeyear's place is to be taken by former Wan Chai District Commander Harry Blud ?
