International riding star Mick Kinane will not apply for a licence to ride in Hong Kong at the end of the present season, writes ROBIN PARKE.
Kinane said in Ireland last night: 'I will be riding for David Oughton for the fifth successive winter. It will be my last winter stint in Hong Kong.' Kinane is expected to arrive here in mid-October.
There was no comment last night from the Jockey Club on the statements made in Kinane's book, which produced major headlines in British newspapers, all centred on the US$13 million allegation.
David Twynham, a central figure in the chapter, said: 'Any comment will have to come from the Club. It was a licensing matter in the first place.' Copies of the relevant chapter were seen by Twynham, director of racing Philip Johnston and information secretary Wilson Cheng; it was also sent to the chief executive, Lawrence Wong.
Johnston said: 'It is not a matter on which individual executives should comment.' Chief executive Wong was in meetings and no comment was forthcoming.
