Following a US$200 million facelift incorporating hi-tech facilities with traditional style and good old-fashioned service, The Peninsula Hong Kong has been voted the best hotel in the world by America's most frequent travellers.

The Peninsula was top choice in an annual survey by Andrew Harper's Hideaway Report, earning the Top International City Award.

The awards, now in their 15th year, are based on a poll of 2,500 readers and are considered the most definitive survey of well-travelled North American executives.

No fewer than 83 per cent of those polled were company presidents, chief executive officers, owners or partners.

'We are delighted,' said Peter Borer, The Peninsula's general manager.

'This accolade is particularly welcome for the recognition by business travellers as providing the ideal business environment combined with the highest levels of comfort and impeccable service.'
