United Parcel Service (UPS) has started its new trans-Pacific 747 service with the arrival of its all-cargo Boeing 747 freighter at Chiang Kai Shek international airport in Taipei, via Japan's Kansai airport, on Thursday.

The package distribution company will fly the 'super-load' aircraft 12 times a week from the United States.

Liu Kai-ming, general manager of UPS Taiwan, said the new service was important for establishing the company's main Asia-Pacific transshipment hub in Taiwan. UPS also has 12 DC-8 cargo flights a week to Taiwan.
