Experts test their knowledge in quiz

The Asian IT Expo '96 IT Quiz, held for the third consecutive year, is one of the most popular features of the annual computer exhibition.

It will run until Friday.

It is run by exhibition organiser Adsale Exhibition Services and the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers.

The quiz is designed to increase public interest in advanced information systems and technologies, as well as to test their knowledge.

The quiz is on-line for the first time this year at http://www. asiaonline.net/itexpo. Players can also choose to enter at the show, or play on the telephone by calling 2330 3970.

The general manager of Adsale Exhibition, K.S. Tong, said the IT Quiz attracted more than 8,000 participants last year. Putting the quiz on the Internet was expected to increase the number of entrants.

The quiz is divided into two sections, for the public and those in higher education. The champion, who will be selected by lucky draw, will win an AcerNote E350 colour notebook computer. Prizes will also be awarded to the first nine top scorers in the public section and the top five in the higher education section.

Mr Tong said: 'The level of IT knowledge is high among our visitors and we know by experience that there will be several winners, so the champion will have to be selected by lucky draw.' Entrants who try their luck on the Internet are asked to give personal details before they can enter the game.

Each participant can try the quiz up to three times. Competitors have to answer all 10 questions correctly within one minute to be eligible for the draw.

The IT quiz can also be attempted at the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers' IT Village at the show. The telephone section is open 24 hours a day, utilising an interactive voice response system provided by Expert Systems.
