Ricky Yiu has made his mark as a young, local trainer with a very bright future.

Last night he introduced his private purchase griffin, Healthy Star, in the opening event. The son of Zabeel may not scale the heights for which Yiu could be destined but the way he shaped when staying on strongly into sixth behind Excel Kid in the opening event, he does look a future winner.

Healthy Star will need a few more runs to trim down and to get the hang of things as he looked a bit backward in condition, is quite a big horse anyway and is learning how to knuckle down and race. Last night he didn't get going until they straightened for home and it could be that he will do better at Sha Tin.

He may also need a move up in distance from last night's 1,200 metres to around a mile but he does appear to possess more than enough natural ability to win from his mark of 41 towards the bottom of Class Four.

Bambi is only an ordinary customer but he didn't have the luck in running in last night's Class Five event won by Paradise and could be one to keep safe in tierces now he's dropped down to a mark of 30. He's sure to be at big odds.
