The list of games for the autumn looks to be quite interesting, especially the role-play games (RPGs).

  The Sega Saturn has got the jump on its competitors in this arena.

  There will be three English conversions released in the near future for the Saturn and one for the Playstation.

  Dragon Force from Working Designs for the Saturn is near completion and looks like a combination of RPG and a strategy game.

  The game plays like a strategy game, similar to Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and the graphics are similar to the Final Fantasy RPGs.

  The player has six kingdoms to choose from. They all start in different regions of Lengendra but are basically the same.

  When you wage war against another kingdom, you have the choice of fighting as an army or in the Duel Mode, where the generals of the opposing armies fight it out by themselves.

  When you go into battle you have 10 different units which you can use: Soldier, Cavalry, Mage, Peon, Archer, Monk, Harpy, Beast, Dragon and Zombie.

  The RPG factor of the game is in the form of attack and defence spells.

  The attack spells have two types.

  One inflicts damage on both the enemy troops and the enemy commander. The other inflicts damage only on the enemy commander.

  Defence spells usually come in the form of healing spells which revive troops during battle.

  Magic Knight Ray Earth for Sega Saturn from Working Designs is based on the Japanese comic and animated film of the same name, from Studio Clamp.

  The story involves three schoolgirls who go on a mystical adventure in a strange land. The trio have to battle the usual monsters and evil bosses, and save a princess.

  The game features great graphics and more than 90 minutes of audio, so every character speaks from the disk.

  Shining Wisdom, another RPG from Working Designs, is a game similar to Brainlord.

  You walk through mazes and labyrinths solving puzzles and fighting monsters, relying only on your skills with the sword and sorcery.

  There are secret items and treasure to pick up along the way to help you through the game.

  The Legend of Oasis is a cross between Lufia 2 and Zelda. You have the puzzles of Lufia 2 and the view of Zelda.

  The basic aim of the game is to gather six spirits and defeat all the enemies that try to block your way.

  Dytto is the water spirit. With this spirit you can heal your wounds, freeze enemies with ice bubbles and create tornadoes.

  Efreet is the fire spirit, a pure attack spirit. This enables you to breathe flames, hurl fire balls and set alight the area surrounding you.

  Bawu is the earth spirit. He eats enemies that get too close, digs tunnels and can produce a swarm of Bawus to attack all enemies.

  Brass is the sound spirit and has three different microwave attacks.

  Shade is the dark spirit. He has the ability to let you view things differently, has a shadow claw attack and can grasp or pull.

  Airl is the cloud spirit, which enables you to float on a cloud to get around difficult obstacles, throws a ball of energy in one direction and has lightning-bolt attacks.

  King's Field 2 follows the less-than-impressive King's Field. The sequel has made some improvements all round, with sharp graphics, good game play and more innovative enemies.

  In the sequel, the battles are more ruthless and there are more areas to explore. To put it simply, there has been a vast improvement.

  Squaresoft, the creators of the great Final Fantasy series, is currently working on the next instalment, Final Fantasy 7.

  It is believed that FF7 will be released on the Sony Playstation instead of its long-time partner Nintendo due to differences which arose during Nintendo and Squaresoft's collaboration on the Mario RPG.

  At present, Squaresoft has not given any confirmation of a release date for the game but said it would be released some time next year.
