Fujian officials yesterday remained tight-lipped about who would succeed Governor Chen Mingyi , but officials from the Ministry of Chemical Industry have revealed that Vice-Minister He Guoqiang has been given the job.
It was reported the Fujian governor is taking over from party secretary Jia Qinglin after Mr Jia was recently promoted to be Beijing's new mayor, replacing Li Qiyan . Mr Li has been transferred to the Ministry of Labour as a vice-minister.
'News about the new governor will be available in a few days,' a Fujian government official said yesterday.
But Ministry of Chemical Industry officials revealed that Mr He is taking over from Mr Chen.
Although a formal announcement has not yet been made, news of Mr He's transfer to Fujian has been widely circulated within the ministry. Officials even said Mr He had left for the southeast province last week.
Mr He's successor is Chen Shineng , former governor of the southwestern province of Guizhou.
