Egypt invites bids for terminal

Egypt has invited investors to bid for a contract to build a container terminal under a build/operate/transfer system at the southern end of the Suez Canal.

The General Authority for Red Sea Ports said the terminal, estimated to cost 200 million Egyptian pounds (about HK$436 million), would be at Adabiya in Suez province. The authority would accept bids until the first week of March.

The terminal would include quays of 600 metres with a depth of 15 metres and a storage area of 400,000 sq metres. The length of the quays may be extended to 1,000 metres.
