Words of wisdom from VIP

The 14th Annual Speech Day of Hong Kong Chinese Women's Club College was packed out with guests, parents and prize-winners.

The school's brass band performed to entertain the audience until the arrival of the special guests.

Secretary of Education and Manpower Joseph Wong Wing-ping officiated at the ceremony.

He was accompanied into the hall by the school's supervisor, managers, principal and teachers.

Principal Wong Sze Lo-sai reported the great many achievements of students, both in academic studies and extra-curricular activities.

The guest-of-honour, Mr Wong, addressed the students before giving away the prizes.

He said they should try to have a full understanding of their own abilities and dispositions, to be more concerned about the changes in society and to participate more in meaningful activities.

He then gave prizes to those who had worked hard for them during the year.

Finally, a representative of graduates called for a vote of thanks to the school.

After the presentation of a souvenir to Mr Wong, the ceremony came to an end with teachers and students singing the school song.
