IT advisory body holds further talks

The Hong Kong Productivity Council's information technology (IT) advisory committee met last month to further a study designed to identify development factors for the industry in the territory and on the mainland.

Committee representatives spanning many fields analysed case studies and joint ventures, and discussed technological co-operation between Hong Kong and China.

The council defined IT as covering four main sectors: microelectronics, software, telecommunications and electronic components.

The committee is supported by 15 representatives from the council and two research centres of the State Science and Technology Commission: the National Research Centre for Science and Technology Development and the High Technology Research and Development Centre.
