Late run points to success

HE has been out of sorts lately but Determinater went into the book after his eye-catching third in the second event at Happy Valley last night.

The David Hill-trained galloper was last in the seven-runner event for much of the 1,600-metre trip but absolutely flew home along the rails for claimer Raymond S. M. Tam.

He was gobbling them up all the way to the line and would be worth considering when striking another equitrack event.

He was a winner at Happy Valley so clearly likes the city track and a suitable turf race would also not be beyond him.

Odds of 12-1 are unlikely to be available about Joyful Delight the next time he steps out over a bit of distance.

In a fast-run third event over 1,400 metres, Joyful Delight came home very solidly for Johnny K. S. Ho and this trip is probably 600 metres short of what he's really after.

But it was a top run from the Peter Tse Yan-sid galloper and the stable is currently in form with a double last weekend. Joyful Delight is definitely coming right to himself now and he looks solid each-way material next time he steps out.

And don't give up on Helene Delight - just don't back him on equitrack.

Wait for a suitable Class Two race at Sha Tin and he will oblige.
