Good case of the blues

Today: Blue Wail at the Amoeba, 10pm till 1am. William Tang, Melchior Sarrealm, Michael Jonsson, Joseph Topacio and Mario Rodrigues belt out blues favourites.

Flashpoint at the Wanch, Jaffe Road, 10pm.

Original and classic rhythm and blues from Hollywood Underground at the L.A. Cafe, 10pm till 2am.

Finnish rock band 22 Pistepirkko are supported by local group HUH! at the Jazz Club. Admission $150.

Tomorrow: Hongkong's only all-girl band The Sisters of Sharon, share the billing at the Wanch with Pleasure Productions. From 10pm.

Rock Gang at the Amoeba 10pm.

Sunday: Lighthouse East Jazz Workshop. Home-grown jazz guitar wizard Eugene Pao joins Hollywood Underground plus a mystery special guest. From 10pm.

Monday: The New China Blues Agency at the Cyrano Lounge, Island Shangri-La, at 9pm. Good time boys Craig Quick and Noel Quinlan provide entertainment for the blazer and slacks brigade.

Diamond Dave Blues Revue at the Jazz Club, no admission fee.

Tuesday: Blue Wail at the Amoeba, 10pm.

Wednesday: Jazz with Han Shan at the Amoeba, 10pm.

Thursday: Radio Free Hongkong: New Sounds from the Underground - local alternative bands get a hearing at the Amoeba, 8 pm. Tickets $25 at the door.

Plus: City Blues play at Portico in Citibank Plaza every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Acoustic guitar-based entertainment from John Hui, Richard Preston and guests.

CC Ryders are back at JJs, the Grand Hyatt. New boys Kevin Wahl and Tony Thompson (a guitarist and not the former Chic drummer) have joined the popular funketeers.

Wednesday is band night at Beefy's Cabin, Canton Road, and jazz night at the Godown restaurant, Admiralty (9pm); The La Bodega Night Spot is now making an effort to get Hongkong's best bands on stage every Wednesday night. The shows start late - after 11pm - so be prepared for a night out.

Old favourites include folk and rock at Hardy's, D'Aguilar Street, every night, while Ken Bennett and the Kowloon Honkers hammer out trad jazz favourites most nights at Ned Kelly's Last Stand.

Mad Dogs - 32 Nathan Road, Kowloon: Live performance by guitarist-cum-singer Dave Colquhoun every Tuesday and Sunday night between 8pm to midnight. FM Select DJ Ian Delahay appears on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night and Clive James McNeil of BFBS spins the discs on Saturday night.
