Surprised

Surprised I write to take issue with Delifrance over the prices in its new branch in Stanley. Great publicity launched this branch and it is certainly a welcome addition to facilities in Stanley, as, in general, food and beverage outlets are of a high standard.

However, I was very surprised to learn that a cup of coffee costs an extra $2, in comparison with any other Delifrance outlet which I have used in the area, both in Kowloon and on Hong Kong Island. On querying the difference in price, I was told that this was due to the fact that we were in Stanley.

How can the management of Delifrance justify the extra cost? The restaurant was packed with customers and I am sure that it will be highly successful.

But it does appear to me that the company is taking advantage of the tourists who frequent the area, as well as the local population.

Other international outlets in the region do not, to my knowledge, apply a policy of price differentiation and I am surprised and disappointed that Delifrance should find it necessary to do so.

I would be interested to hear the reasoning behind its actions.
