Oil firms may have to pay

Japanese oil companies may have to pay to help clean up the oil spill caused by a Russian tanker, according to a Japanese newspaper report.

Depending on the extent of the damage, oil companies might have to pay about six billion yen (about HK$380 million), the Nihon Keizai said. Oil importers affected include Nippon Oil, Cosmo Oil, Showa Shell Sekiyu K K, Mitsubishi Oil, Tonen Corp and Japan Energy Corp.
