No incident as such

Boeing

We refer to the news in brief report headlined, 'Landing aborted' (South China Morning Post, January 27).

The incident was not correctly reported and we would like to clear up any doubts in the minds of travellers.

The plane's commander is an experienced Boeing 747 examiner, with 42 years of aviation experience, who has been flying to Hong Kong for the last 27 years.

He decided to carry out what is known as a missed approach, because of instability in the approach. There was no incident as such and therefore no question of anyone being at risk of sustaining any injuries.
