Clarifying study room rules

I REFER to the letter headlined, ''Angered by selfish students'' (South China Morning Post, February 6), regarding users occupying seats with their belongings in the study room of the Kowloon Central Library.

The present regulations on the use of Urban Council study rooms allow users to leave their seats for a duration of up to 15 minutes.

Beyond that time, staff may assign the vacant seats to other users. Notices for this purpose have been put up in all study rooms.

Your reader may rest assured that library staff of the Kowloon Central Library will step up patrolling of the study room and take appropriate action to ensure all users have a fair chance to use it.

We would like to take this opportunity to appeal to study room users to be more considerate toward others and observe library regulations.

Should readers encounter difficulties in using Urban Council library facilities, they are welcome to contact the assistant librarians on duty so that immediate action can be taken.
