The West Kowloon Expressway and Kwai Chung Viaduct are now open to traffic.

The expressway and viaduct are important parts of the Airport Core Programme (ACP) transport corridor that will serve the new airport at Chek Lap Kok and Tung Chung new town.

The expressway is the first of the 10 ACP projects to be completed.

At first the highways will provide an alternative route for motorists travelling between Tsim Sha Tsui and Kwai Chung.

The 4.2-kilometre expressway is a dual, three-lane carriageway built on the West Kowloon Reclamation. Its northern section links with Kwai Chung Viaduct, while the southern section leads to the Western Harbour Crossing.

The dual, four-lane viaduct, together with Rambler Channel Bridge and Cheung Ching Tunnel, forms part of Route 3 and connects the West Kowloon Expressway to the Lantau Link. Produced by New Airport Projects Co-ordination Office
