Eco ad fails to get message over

I'M sure many people have seen the cartoon advertisement on environmental protection on television. Its content is both laudable and attractive. But the message it brings out is ambiguous.

The advert shouldn't just urge people to save the globe by protecting the environment, but should clearly point out what can be done to protect it, in ways that people can relate to.

For instance, housewives could be encouraged to use the ''environmentally friendly'' cloth bags or plastic trays, that are available in many supermarkets and groceries, and the younger generation could be educated about the damage that can be caused by using sprays, gels, mousse and other cosmetics which contain CFCs.

Only by including such suggestions can this advert be really constructive.
