Managers of the Top One karaoke bar where 17 people were killed in January's fire have rejected calls from the victims' families for a higher ex-gratia payment and cancelled a meeting today.

Relatives of the victims said they were angry about the decision and would meet this afternoon to discuss what action to take.

In addition to $20,000 for funeral expenses for each family, the relatives want a $120,000 ex-gratia payment and another $120,000 one-year advance insurance payment.

Top One has given a $10,000 ex-gratia payment. One family has refused to receive it.
