Arthur Bowring, a consultant to the Hong Kong Shipowners Association (HKSA), is to replace Michael Farlie as director of the group from July 1.

Mr Bowring will officially join the association as a full-time member on April 1, just before taking up the directorship.

Recently he has been handling investigative projects and legal and marine claims management and acting as an arbitrator in shipping and related disputes.

Mr Bowring became a consultant after he was made redundant from Orient Ship Management, which closed after he arrived in Hong Kong in 1994.

Previously he worked with Trident Tankers, which became part of P&O Bulk Shipping, Denholm Ship Management and Cargill International, where he stayed for 15 years before coming to the territory.
