Currie breaks

Carlsberg's public relations manager Derek Currie will not be a wanted man this weekend. At past Hong Kong Sevens, there have been periodic announcements: 'Derek Currie is wanted at the tournament control office'.

These announcements became more frequent as the day went by.

It was, of course, a code for the beers to be sent for the referees and officials in the box - talking and running, after all, is a thirsty business.

'This year we won't be calling for Derek Currie. We have enough beers up there,' said an official. Lots of official beer of course - from Foster's, one of sponsors of the tournament.

Maybe we might hear the name of Sean Prendergast being announced frequently this weekend.
