Courageous

I was greatly heartened to read the story in Friday Focus (South China Morning Post, March 14), relating to Don Bozarth's brave struggle to come back and emerge victorious after sustaining crippling injuries in an accident in 1992.

Don Bozarth is a shining example of the triumph of the human spirit over seemingly insurmountable odds.

In Hong Kong it is a remarkable enough feat in itself that a man of 50 can still run marathons and outswim people half his age, let alone come back from the crippling injuries that he suffered. He should be admired not criticised. It is grossly unfair that he should be criticised about the size of the lawsuit payout.

He deserves every penny he got and more. Only another athlete or sportsman can appreciate what is involved when you lose your mobility and strength and the titanic struggle involved in winning it back.
