The Hong Kong Judo Association (HKJA) offers no courses at the moment but intends conducting several during the summer.

The Urban Council and Regional Council organise training courses for youngsters and the HKJA hopes to hold its courses in conjunction with the council's when summer arrives.

Council courses consist of 10 lessons, with the expectation that this will be extended in future.

Youngsters learn the basic throws in judo and it can be a lot of fun, especially if you go along with friends. Players are thrown on a soft mat and there is little danger of getting hurt.

A development scheme is being planned, with the HKJA hopeful courses will be offered on Hong Kong Island, in Kowloon and the New Territories. As part of this scheme, there will be 10 courses, eight of which are for junior players.

The other two judo courses to be offered are for students at intermediate level. Call the HKJA on 2891 3879 for more information about the summer's events.
