Japan study trip applications due

Tertiary students interested in studying in Japan should submit applications by next Wednesday.

The Japan Airlines (JAL) Scholarship Programme is aimed at providing students with the opportunity to live and study in Japan. Three youths will be selected this year from Hong Kong. They will join about 40 students from 12 countries or regions in the Asia-Pacific.

The five-week programme includes a summer session of Asian studies at Sophia University, field trips, and home stays.

It runs from July 22 to August 27. JAL meets all expenses including travel, insurance, tuition, lodgings and purchase of books.

Those applying must submit an English essay (1,000 to 1,500 words) on the theme 'A New Asian Paradigm for Successful Global Co-existence'.

Interested students should contact the student affairs office of their respective universities.
