A corruption case involving former stock exchange vice-chairman Chen Po-sum moves to Canada next week to hear the pre-trial testimony of a prosecution witness.
Chen, 65, facing eight bribes charges, made a brief appearance at the High Court yesterday for a preliminary hearing. She pleaded not guilty to all charges and her trial has been set for April 21.
The court was told that the evidence in Canada would be given by a former Hong Kong stockbroker unable to return to the territory for Chen's trial.
Mr Justice Pang Kin-kee, prosecutor Anthony Shapel and defence counsel Kevin Egan will fly to Canada for the hearing next Tuesday.
A Canadian judge will preside over the case alongside Mr Justice Pang and the testimony, expected to last two days, will be recorded on video.
Slight changes to the wording of the charges faced by Chen were made at the High Court yesterday.
