It has been a tough year at work and she has probably been the last person you have thought about when it comes to saying 'thank you for a job well done.' Take heart, for you still have a chance to redeem yourself with a special lunch at one of Hong Kong's classier hotels.

The Kowloon Shangri-La is staging a special Secretaries Week promotion and bosses can show their gratitude by treating them to lunch at one of the hotel's four restaurants.

All guests receive a souvenir and are eligible to win the lucky draw of a one-night weekend stay for two at the Kowloon Shangri-La, including a buffet breakfast.

Ladies lunching at the Shang Palace, Napa, Margaux or the Coffee Garden will receive a bottle of Lancome perfume and a miniature bottle of Grand Marnier.

A special menu at the Shang Palace costs $988 for four people and includes: Soup of the day; barbecued 'Shek-Ki pigeon; steamed coral trout; sauteed water spinach with preserved bean curd sauce; panfried egg with barbecued pork and spring onion; and double boiled sweetened bird's nest dessert.

The Regal Kowloon Hotel offers a four-course executive lunch today at Le Restaurant de France for $208 per person, including a carafe of wine, roses, giveaways and entry to the lucky draw for secretaries.

L.A. Brasserie, Le Grand Cafe and the Regal Seafood Restaurant also have special lunch plans for a little less per person, and all secretaries are in the lucky draw for cosmetic gift sets from Orlane, meal vouchers and hampers.

The Regal Hongkong Hotel has a great lucky draw for secretaries patronising the Riviera Mediterranean restaurant, the Cafe Rivoli, Regal Palace Restaurant and Regal Chiuchow restaurant.

Among other prizes is a night of weekend accommodation in a Regal Hongkong suite plus and American breakfast, free use of the Topform health club and a Sunday brunch at the Riviera Mediterranean restaurant, all worth $6,000.

Regal's Airport and Riverside Hotels have similar giveaways and specials for Secretary's Day.

If lunch is not possible perhaps appealing to her sweet tooth with a gift from the Mandarin Oriental might convey the desired message of thanks.

The Mandarin Cake Shop has a number of feature items on sale for today, including fresh strawberry cream cake, handmade chocolate truffles and specially decorated chocolate boxes at prices to suit all pockets.
