Railways to get $10.88b

China's State Development Bank plans to lend 11.72 billion yuan (about HK$10.88 billion) for key railway construction projects this year, a newspaper reports.

The China Daily said the development bank, a policy bank set up to support infrastructure development, had already extended 2.22 billion yuan in loans for railway construction in the 1997 first quarter.
