Ceremony ends hall's restoration

THE completion of a major restoration of the 468-year-old Tang Chung Ling Ancestral Hall was marked yesterday with a ceremony at the Fanling site.

The multi-million dollar project, funded by donations from the Royal Hongkong Jockey Club and the Government, began in 1991.

Secretary for Recreation and Culture Mr James So Yiu-cho praised the Tang Clan of Lung Yeuk Tau.

''The hall has been so well preserved that now not only your clansmen but also the public at large can have the opportunity to understand its historical significance as well as to appreciate its architectural splendours,'' Mr So said.

The project was supervised by the Architectural Services Department and the Recreation and Culture Branch.
