Fast response so important

I refer to Nick Robinson's letter headlined, 'Fire safety awareness needs improvement' (South China Morning Post, April 15).

There have been a number of serious fires in Hong Kong which have taken the lives of innocent people.

In one incident that I know of people were reluctant to call the police or the fire brigade.

It is important that whenever we see a fire, we should report it.

Time is of the essence when there is a fire.

It is the responsibility of anyone who sees a fire to alert the emergency services as soon as possible and try our best to help the victims of fires.
