Caen prevented Monaco from celebrating their French title in style when they held them to a 2-2 draw.

Monaco were assured of the title when their nearest rivals Paris St Germain drew 2-2 with Bordeaux.

After a dull first half, Monaco moved up a gear to the relief of their fans and scored in the 53rd minute through Nigerian Viktor Ikpeba.

Caen's equaliser 10 minutes later came from a brilliant strike by Frederic Nee.

Substitute Thierry Henry restored Monaco's lead in the 74th minute but Caen's Stephane Roche equalised almost immediately.

The draw restored Monaco's nine-point lead over PSG with two matches to play.

Cannes drew 2-2 with Strasbourg to virtually guarantee themselves First Division soccer next season, while Strasbourg, winners of the League Cup, have already qualified for the UEFA Cup.
