The police force would remain independent despite it becoming a sub-bureau of China's Interpol, Commissioner Eddie Hui Ki-on said yesterday.
Officiating at the opening of the Second Interpol Meeting of Asian Contact Officers, Mr Hui said the force would remain a part of Interpol after July 1, operating as a sub-bureau of China.
He said that apart from a few minor changes there would be no disruption to the force's work, adding it would retain sole responsibility for internal security.
