League Cup winners Leicester City secured their place in the English Premier League with a last-gasp, 1-0 home win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Defender Matthew Elliot scored the vital goal just four minutes from the end, shooting past Wednesday 'keeper Kevin Pressman. It was Leicester's first league win in 10 matches.

Leicester, who won promotion from the First Division via last season's play-offs, now have 44 points and cannot be relegated. Nottingham Forest are already down and seven other clubs are still in danger.

Leicester won the League Cup last month after a replay against Middlesbrough but manager Martin O'Neill stressed from the first day of the season that survival was his number one priority. They can now expect to play in next season's UEFA Cup.
