A 25-year-old off-duty policeman battled with the illegal immigrant gang that has been terrorising Sha Tin residents with a series of hold-ups which left the victims tied to trees.

The officer fought back when the gang of six tried to rob him on a path near Tsui Tin Street. Despite being slashed on his hands and suffering head injuries, he chased the group away. He also found another five men gagged and bound to trees who had been robbed of the cash and valuables by the gang.
