A senior Chinese official renewed a call yesterday for Japan to take concrete action to honour its pledges on the Diaoyu Islands.

In the wake of two recent landings on the islands, Xinhua deputy director Zhang Junsheng said Japan should suppress the actions by its right-wing activists. 'Apart from making empty promises, the Japanese Government should take concrete action to restrict acts of incitement by the right-wing forces,' he said.
