Malaysia's Konsortium Perkapalan says subsidiary PNSL has placed orders worth M$134 million (about HK$415.2 million) for two 73,000 deadweight tonne (dwt) bulk carriers from Hyundai Heavy Industries of South Korea.

Konsortium Perkapalan said the carriers, which have been upgraded from the standard shipyard specification, would be ready in 1999.

PNSL's fleet comprises 58 vessels with a combined capacity of 1.58 million dwt.

Konsortium Perkapalan also said the Malaysian Securities Commission had approved the consolidation of its shipping interests into Diperdana Corp.
