Calling card sets right tone

AT&T has decided to issue its own handover calling cards to contribute to the headache of Hong Kong Telecom, which is expecting the greatest call frenzy in its history in the hours around the midnight handover ceremony.

Where to buy: 7-Eleven, Daily Store, Duty Free and SmarTone Telecommunications outlets across Hong Kong.

Description: Two stored-value AT&T calling cards featuring twilight views of Central and Wan Chai's skyline and that of Tsim Sha Tsui. One has 20 units and the other 50 for international phone calls lasting about 14 minutes or more, depending on destination.

Cost: $497 for both cards in this limited edition of 4,000 sets.

Our verdict: The phone cards are kind of useful for you to call mums, dads and friends overseas to prove that you are a witness to history.
