Facilities a disgrace
My nomination for athe worst designedand run building in Hong Kong has to be the new Peak Tower. I went there by Peak Tram on June 1, at about 4pm, with my wife and stepson, aged six, who wanted to use the toilet.
We eventuallyfound a stinking, reeking facility with no Western plumbing and not toilet paper - in one of the most popular international tourist attractions in town.
As soon as I entered, I saw and heard an angry North American visitor swearing and cursing at the attendant. The American was asking (minus the fruity language): 'Haven't you got any toilet tissue at all?' The visitor will, no doubt, return to Arkansas or wherever with a very poor view of hygiene standards in this town.
My stepson then went into a cubicle, only to call out a couple of minutes later taht he couldn't open the door, which had jammed only partly open.
I tried to help him but the door would not budge. I asked the attendant to help. He ignored me completely and I had to free my stepson myself.
As a consequence of this dreadful experience I shall never return.
