Anyone thirsty for change?

First there was 1997 champagne, then a special cocktail. Now comes the handover beer.

Where to buy: Select trendy bars and hotels across Hong Kong.

Description: A lager by the micro brewers at South China Brewing Company, its bottle is decorated with labels of '97 and the red flag of China folding over the Union Jack.

'Red Dawn' beer, as it has been christened, is darker than most lagers, though not quite red.

Cost: Between $40 and $50, depending on which bar you are in; and, of course, two for the price of one during the territory's numerous, and lengthy, happy hours.

Our verdict: When you wake up from a drunken stupor sometime on July 1, it's good to have the label on hand to remind you that you are no longer in British territory.
