Ryuichi Koike, the corporate racketeer at the centre of a scandal implicating Nomura Securities Co and Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank (DKB), was indicted for extortion for the second time by Tokyo prosecutors yesterday. Koike was previously indicted on June 5. Four former DKB directors were also indicted for making illegal pay-offs of more than 11.7 billion yen (about HK$795 million) to Koike through an affiliated finance company. The four are Hiroshi Inotsume, Tatsuo Shibuya, Michiyoshi Kusajima and Takushi Manabe. The indictments come a day before DKB holds its annual shareholders' meeting.
